These Terms explain what you are buying from The Manuscript Rescue, what I will do, what I will not do, and where you stand if something goes wrong. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable. If anything here is unclear, email me and ask before you buy.
1. Who you are dealing with
The Manuscript Rescue is the trading name of Wendy Jane Woodcock, a sole trader based in Guernsey, Channel Islands.
Email: info@tmr.gg
In these Terms, “I” and “me” mean The Manuscript Rescue. “You” means the person buying a product or using this website.
2. What these Terms cover
These Terms apply when you buy a Fix Kit, a Micro Fix or the Account Assessment, use one of the free tools on this website, or join the mailing list. How I handle personal information is set out separately in the Privacy Notice and the Cookie Notice.
By placing an order you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not buy.
3. The Fix Kits, Micro Fixes and the Account Assessment
These are digital products, delivered as PDF files you download. Nothing is posted to you. In these Terms, anything said about a kit applies equally to a Micro Fix and to the assessment.
- Self-Publishing Pre-Publication Fix Kit — £17
- Self-Publishing Post-Launch Fix Kit — £17
- Self-Publishing Pre and Post-Launch Bundle — both kits, £27
- The Account Risk Assessment — £9.99
- The Complete Self-Publishing Fix Kits and Account Risk Assessment Bundle — all three documents, £32.99
- Micro Fixes — 27 single-problem diagnostic guides, fillable PDFs, £4.99 each. The current list is at themanuscriptrescue.com/micro-fixes.
Payment and delivery. Fix Kit checkout and delivery are handled by Payhip, a third-party platform. When you buy a kit you also enter into Payhip’s own terms at the point of checkout. Payment is taken in pounds sterling. Any sales tax or VAT that applies in your country is calculated and handled by Payhip at checkout.
When you get it. Access to the download is provided immediately after payment is confirmed. If a download link does not reach you, email me and I will send the files directly.
Refunds. Because the kits are delivered instantly and in full, they are not refundable once the download has been accessed. You are buying a document you can read in its entirety within minutes, so please be sure before you buy. If you have not accessed the download, or if a technical fault prevented you from receiving it at all, email me and I will refund you. If you buy the same product twice by mistake, send me both receipts and I will refund the duplicate.
This does not affect any legal right you have if the product is not as described. If a kit is not what this website says it is, tell me and I will put it right.
What a kit is, and is not. A Fix Kit is a diagnostic reference document. It identifies problems and tells you how to fix them. It is not a service, it is not personalised to your book, and buying one does not include any consultation time with me.
What the Account Assessment is, and is not. The Account Risk Assessment is a self-assessment document: a printable worksheet of checks you answer about your own account, a self-scored result, and a set of general actions. It is not a service, it is not personalised, it is not reviewed by me, and buying it does not include any consultation time. It is not legal advice, and I do not act for you in any dealings with Amazon.
Immediate delivery and your cancellation rights. All of these products are delivered immediately and in full. By buying, you are asking for that immediate delivery and accepting that, once the download has been accessed, the cancellation right a UK consumer would otherwise have for a digital purchase no longer applies. This is why the refund position above is set out on every product page before you buy, and you confirm your acceptance by ticking the refund-policy box at checkout. The Refund Policy is at payhip.com/TheManuscriptRescue/refund-policy. If you would prefer not to accept it, please do not complete the purchase.
4. Licence to use the Fix Kits, Micro Fixes and the Account Assessment
When you buy a Fix Kit or the Account Risk Assessment you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it for your own publishing work, including books you publish under your own name or imprint. In these Terms, anything said about a kit applies equally to a Micro Fix and to the assessment.
You may print it, annotate it and keep it for as long as you like.
You may not resell it, share it, upload it to a file-sharing service or membership site, reproduce it in your own paid or free materials, or use it to deliver a paid service to other authors. If you want to use the material with clients, email me and we will agree terms.
Copyright in the kits, this website and everything on it remains mine.
5. What I promise, and what I do not
I will supply each product as it is described on this website, prepared to a professional standard.
I cannot promise commercial results. Nobody honestly can. Nothing on this website or in any kit is a guarantee of sales, rankings, reviews, royalties, approval by Amazon, or acceptance by any retailer or distributor.
Amazon and Kindle Direct Publishing are operated by Amazon.com, Inc. I am not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of Amazon. KDP’s rules, interfaces and requirements change without notice, and I have no control over its decisions about your account or your book.
Account access, restriction and termination. The Account Risk Assessment is a prevention and continuity resource. It does not guarantee uninterrupted access to your KDP account, and it cannot prevent, reverse or influence a decision by Amazon to restrict, suspend or terminate an account, withhold royalties, or remove a book. Working through it does not certify compliance with any Amazon policy.
A voluntary account closure, which you choose and control, is a different thing from a suspension or termination decided by Amazon. Nothing I sell affects either. If your account has already been restricted or terminated, follow the instructions in Amazon’s own notice: I do not write, submit or represent appeals, and no purchase from me will improve one.
Any factual statement about KDP’s rules in the assessment reflects Amazon’s published terms and help pages as checked on the date printed in the document. Amazon changes those pages without notice, so check the current official page before you act.
Nothing I provide is legal, tax, accounting or financial advice. Where a publishing decision has legal or tax consequences — rights, contracts, defamation, use of real people in a memoir, your tax position on royalties — take advice from someone qualified in your own jurisdiction.
6. Your responsibilities
I do not review, edit or assess manuscripts, so please do not send me one.
You remain the author and rights holder of your own work. Buying or using a product gives me no interest in your book.
You are responsible for the final decision to publish, and for checking your own book before you do.
7. Free tools and the mailing list
The Self-Publishing Risk Check, Problem Finder Quiz and Readiness Checklist are free, provided as they are, and calculated in your own browser. They are a starting point, not an audit, and a good score is not a guarantee that nothing is wrong.
You can join the mailing list, and leave it, whenever you like. Every email has an unsubscribe link. What I do with your address is set out in the Privacy Notice.
8. Third parties
This website and business rely on services run by other companies: Payhip for selling and delivering the kits, MailerLite for email, GoDaddy for hosting, and Google Analytics where you have accepted analytics cookies. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to what they do. I choose them carefully but I do not control them.
9. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Subject to that, my total liability to you in connection with a product is limited to the amount you paid for it.
I am not liable for indirect or consequential loss — for example lost sales, lost royalties, lost profit, or the cost of republishing — arising from your use of a kit or this website.
10. If something goes wrong
Email me at info@tmr.gg and tell me what has happened. I would far rather fix a problem directly than have you unhappy about it. I aim to reply within two working days.
11. Changes to these Terms
I may update these Terms as the products change. The version in force is the one published on this page on the date you buy, and the revision date is shown at the top.
12. Law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the law of the Island of Guernsey, and the courts of Guernsey have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not remove the protections given to you by the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in.
