2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information stored on your computer, tablet, phone or other device when you visit a website. Some cookies are necessary for a website to work properly. Others, such as analytics cookies, help a website owner understand how visitors use the site.
3. The cookies and technologies we use
Essential and functional technologies
The website and its hosting infrastructure may use technical functions that are necessary to deliver, secure and operate the website. Where a cookie or similar storage mechanism is strictly necessary to provide a service you request or to remember your cookie choice, it may operate without analytics consent.
Google Analytics
The Manuscript Rescue uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website, for example which pages are visited and how people navigate through the site.
Google Analytics cookies are non-essential and are activated only after you choose to accept analytics cookies.

Rejecting analytics cookies does not prevent you from using the website, taking the diagnostic tools, accessing free resources or purchasing products.
4. Diagnostic tools
The Manuscript Rescue’s diagnostic tools calculate your answers and results entirely within your browser.
- The tools do not send your individual answers to Google Analytics.
- The tools do not store your answers on The Manuscript Rescue’s WordPress server.
- The problem search on our homepage is separate from these tools. It records nothing unless you switch on Search improvement (see section 6).
- The tools do not save your answers in localStorage or sessionStorage.
- If you use a tool without submitting an email form, The Manuscript Rescue receives no record of your individual answers.
If you choose to submit an email form, the information identified on that form is sent directly from your browser to MailerLite. More information is provided in our Privacy Notice.
5. GoDaddy hosting technology
The website is hosted using GoDaddy infrastructure. Technical information may be exchanged with GoDaddy systems when pages load in order to provide, operate, secure and maintain the website. This hosting telemetry is separate from The Manuscript Rescue’s use of Google Analytics.
6. Your choices
When you first visit the website, you are given two separate optional choices. Both are off unless you allow them, and the website — including the problem search — works the same whichever you choose.
- Google Analytics – uses Google Analytics to help us understand which pages are visited and how the website is used. If you allow it, the _ga and _ga_KM2PTZJ097 cookies are set. If you do not, Google Analytics does not read or write analytics cookies on your device. The site uses Google Consent Mode, so the Google tag still loads and may send limited cookieless signals to Google.
- Search improvement – allows us to record the words entered into the problem search on our homepage, the result shown and the option selected, so we can improve the search. Search entries are kept for up to 90 days on The Manuscript Rescue’s own website hosting and are not sent to Google Analytics. Search logging does not set an additional cookie. More information is in the Search improvement section of our Privacy Notice.
The banner offers Accept all, Reject all, or Choose, which opens Privacy and Cookie Settings so you can decide each option separately.
Open Privacy and Cookie Settings
The website remembers your choices for six months using small strictly necessary cookies (tmr_cookie_consent and tmr_search_consent), together with a record of which version of this wording you chose under and when (tmr_consent_v). A Privacy and Cookie Settings link remains available in the footer of every page, so you can change or withdraw either choice at any time. If you made a choice before 18 September 2026, you will be asked again once, because the choices have changed.
7. Changing or deleting cookies through your browser
Most browsers allow you to view, block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking all cookies may affect the operation of some websites, so using the Cookie Settings control on this website is normally the simplest way to manage optional analytics cookies.
8. Advertising and remarketing
The Manuscript Rescue does not currently intentionally use Google Analytics cookies for third-party advertising or remarketing through this website.
If advertising, remarketing or additional tracking technologies are introduced in future, this Cookie Notice and the website’s cookie controls will be reviewed and updated before they are used.
9. Changes to this Cookie Notice
We may update this Cookie Notice if the technologies, services or cookies used on the website change. The latest version will show the revision date at the top.
